KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Chiefs and offensive lineman Brandon Albert have failed to reach a new long-term deal by Monday's deadline.
Albert, the Chiefs' designated franchise player, will now become a free agent at the end of the upcoming NFL season. The team will pay the left tackle $9.8 million for the season.
The Monday afternoon deadline was for franchise players and their respective teams to sign long-term deals.
