Chiefs reportedly ask to interview Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter for head coach opening

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Multiple reports on Monday afternoon said the Chiefs have asked for permission to interview Dirk Koetter for their head coaching opening. Koetter is the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons..

FoxSports.com's Alex Marvez reported Koetter will interview with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs and Cleveland Browns. ESPN's Chris Mortensen also reported the Chiefs have asked to interview Koetter.

It comes just a couple of hours after the Chiefs fired Romeo Crennel as head coach. Kansas City just finished with a 2-14 record, tied for worst in the NFL.

Atlanta has the eighth-ranked total offense in the NFL. The Falcons also are ranked sixth in passing. Koetter is known for a no-huddle attack that requires a talented quarterback. Atlanta features one of the top young quarterbacks in the NFL with Matt Ryan.
