With two days to go before the Chiefs take on the Raiders at home, team ambassadors and members of the marines played the game virtually.

“It’s kind of fun hanging around these guys for a little while as he’s beating me in this game but we’re having a lot of fun,” Keith Cash, a Chiefs Ambassador said.

It’s part of the seventh-annual Pros vs. GI Joes video gaming event at Arrowhead Stadium. It also served as the backdrop for this year’s Chiefs Toys for Tots kickoff

“We’re very much about the community, we’re very much about the kids and what better time than to give back to kids than around the Christmas season,” Cash said.

Now in it’s 51st year, this partnership is the longest of its kind between an NFL team and the U.S. Marine Corps. On Tuesday, Chiefs General Manager John Dorsey presented 180 footballs for the cause.

“That’s a 180 kids that are getting toys, that’s a 180 gifts right there,” Gunnery Sergeant Chad Sawyer with the U.S. Marines said.

Last year, Chiefs fans donated more than 2,300 toys and gave more $8,500 in donations.

“When you’re able to give a positive impact during the holiday season when times are tough that’s going to reflect back in the community because they’re going to be able to go back someday and do the same,” Sawyer said.

At Thursday’s game the Marines will be stationed at gates around Arrowhead collecting Toys for Tots.

“We have to represent and show everybody what the kingdom is all about and you know what? It’s generous. It’s a generous community it’s about giving to your neighbors and that’s kind of what we do here,” John Dorsey, the Chiefs GM said.

If you plan to donate a toy this holiday season you;ll want to make sure it’s new, boxed and unwrapped.
