Class was finally in session at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri - sort of.

It was not the first day of classes on campus. But, it was the first day of Chiefs Training Camp. The rookies and quarterbacks, in addition to a few of the veterans, were on the field for practices early Tuesday morning. For the rookies, the experience reminded them of where they just came from.

"Yeah, it was cool. I actually sent a picture to my mom. I was like, back in the dorm room," Chiefs Rookie Quarterback Patrick Mahomes said. "It was cool. [Missouri Western State University treats] us. It's a great facility here. [It's] great. Just teambuilding and I mean, it's something that I'm glad that they allow us just to be here."

Rookie Running Back Kareem Hunt also seemed very excited to be out there on the field and eager to show the team what he's made of.

"I mean, I ran a lot of the routes that they're asking me to do. And, there's a lot of new ones too that they're asking me to do," Hunt said. "It goes hand-in-hand. I'm just learning everything and trying to take it day-by-day."

Quarterback Alex Smith begins his 13th season in the NFL and his 5th season with the Chiefs. Training Camp's are nothing new to him.

"Yeah, you know, I was excited, ready for this to get back here," Smith said. "I always enjoy this. I love coming, I love going away for camp. I love being up here with the guys. This is something, you know, you look forward to more and more as you get older."
