KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Special events will be going on across the metro to celebrate Red Friday ahead of Sunday's Chiefs home opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
On your drive to work this morning, you'll see volunteers out selling Red Friday newspapers. Every year the Chiefs pick a different charity, and this year proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House.
At 7 a.m. airplanes painted the downtown sky red with smoke.

You'll also see some local destinations showing their spirit.
The Liberty Memorial, Kansas City International Airport, Ward Parkway and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art will all be sporting their team spirit.
Union Station and the Kauffman Performing Arts Center have lit up their buildings in red. Various fountains will also have red flowing water.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus will put on a Red Friday Spectacular in front of the Sprint Center at 11 a.m. The celebration on Grand Boulevard will feature various performers and animals, including star elephant, Kelly Ann, performing special tricks such as punting and catching Chiefs footballs.
The Chiefs Cheerleaders and KC Wolf will be there passing out special giveaways.
Friday night, you can get ready for the game at the Red Friday Pep Rally. It starts at 6:30 p.m. on the KC Live! Stage at the Power & Light District.
Select Chiefs players will make appearances at the event, as well as Chiefs Cheerleaders, KC Wolf and the Chiefs Rumble. There will also be Red Friday happy hour specials going on at Power & Light District.
