KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two former University of Missouri Tigers have now been added to the growing list of past football players suing over head injuries.
Anthony VanZant and Sharron Washington filed a class action lawsuit against the National Collegiate Athletic Association Thursday.
On the first page of the suit, it states the two former players are asking for a court-supervised fund to provide medical monitoring for players who suffered repeated head injuries from 1987 to 1991.
VanZant was a running back at Mizzou from 1987 to 1991. He claims after he left Mizzou, he continued to have headaches, depression, fatigue and sleeping problems because of the head injuries he suffered while playing.
Washington played as a cornerback and free safety from 1987 and 1991. His claim is similar; he said he experienced headaches, depression, sleeping problems and numbing and tingling sensations. Washington continues to get treated because of these conditions.
The suit is asking for a jury to decide the case.
