Future stars of PGA tour ready to tee off in Overland Park

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - More than 150 golfers will tee off Thursday in the Midwest Classic at Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in Overland Park, Kan.

This is the fourth year the Web.com tour event has been in the Kansas City area and organizers say they are seeing positive feedback from golf fans and spectators.

"This tournament has a short history, but PGA champion Keegan Bradley and U.S Open champion Webb Simpson have played here," said Jim Duncan, Vice President of rules, competition and administration for the Web.com Tour.

The Web.com Tour is one of the ways a golfer can earn his way on to the PGA Tour.

"I don't think people realize that there is very little difference between the guys on the Web.com Tour and the guys on the PGA Tour. It's mainly just an access thing. There is not a lot of spots on the PGA Tour versus other professional sports," Duncan said.

The Midwest Classic runs through it's final round on Sunday.
