Heat causing local high schools to delay games

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The extreme heat will impact the opening week of high school football on Friday.

Several schools have decided to delay the start times for their games. They include:

  • Liberty at Lee’s Summit West: 8 p.m. (delayed one hour)
  • Park Hill South at Lee’s Summit North: 8 p.m. (delayed one hour)
  • Raymore-Peculiar at Belton: 8 p.m. (delayed one hour)
  • Truman vs. Lee's Summit 8 p.m. (delayed one hour)
  • Van Horn vs. Lathrop 8 p.m. (delayed one hour)
  • North Kansas City High School vs. Lafayette 8 p.m. (delayed one hour)

Chief Meteorologist Gary Lezak forecasts highs in the upper 90s on Friday.
