KANSAS CITY, MO. - Poor ol’ Wichita State. The Shockers are reminded every day they're just not good enough to be in the conversation with the big dogs.
While this debate seems never ending, the Shockers just keep on winning games. There's nothing else at the moment they can prove to the naysayers. They've played all of their regular season games and won every one.
Thirty-one straight and it’s still not good enough.
Next up, the Missouri Valley Tournament in St. Louis.
Ah ha, we're reminded that dooms day is coming for the Shocks. After all, Wichita State hasn't won the Valley tournament since 1987.
There are so many non-believers out there just because of the schedule Wichita State plays.
We've heard many times about the number of games Kansas and other BCS teams have played against the RPI top 50.
Why is that such a big deal? They should be playing the best. They have the best players.
How about this? Wichita State and these other mid-majors should be spotted, let’s say, eight points a game when they tee it up against the big boys.
Look, Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, NC, Duke, Syracuse…you know the teams. They're all lottery factories for the NBA.
And that’s fine, but why not let these mid-major teams enjoy a little of the limelight?
Here's what I love about all of this. There's not one team among the so-called “blue bloods of college basketball” who will schedule the Wichita State Shockers.
They want no part of them. That tells you everything you need to know.
That’s Jack’s Smack.
