Johnson County families form K-State ‘youth movement'

ST. LOUIS - Kentucky may be known for its young players, but Kansas State has to have the youngest fans.

In the stands at the Wildcats open practice Thursday night were at least two families of six from Johnson County, with nary a teen among them.

The Sell family of Overland Park had the freshest of fan freshman with a 4-month-old attending his first basketball game and 6-year-old Jack opening up to a reporter about his favorite player in purple, Marcus Foster.

"Because he shoots threes and I like it," Jack explained. "And he's pretty good."

Clan mother Monica admitted bringing all four of her children to St. Louis for the weekend might be "a lot crazy."

On the other side of the arena, a second family declined to comment on camera about their trip up from Johnson County. The father had called out sick from work and didn't want to get caught.
