LIBERTY, Mo. - This week's Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week is a dominant force on the mound and on the plate.
Andrew Vogelbaugh of Liberty High School has led his team to victory week in and week out.
Thanks to his six home runs and 36 RBIs, Liberty North is the number one team in the state of Missouri. They've won 17 games in a row.
"We've been playing great baseball all year," Vogelbaugh said. "Everybody's in it. Everybody's doing well and we're focused. We just want to keep it going."
Over the weekend, the Eagles won the Northland Tournament and have solidified themselves as the team to beat this season. They are 19-1.
Vogelbaugh has had tremendous success pitching as well. He's racked up an impressive 25 strikeouts, allowing only three runs in five games. Vogelbaugh has not lost a game yet when he's the starter.
"Offensively he's having one of the best years I've seen a high school hitter have," head baseball coach Ryan Stegall said. "Top of the lineup, getting on base...he's getting the job done."
Baseball runs in Vogelbaugh's blood. His grandfather is Steve Mingori, who played seven seasons for the Royals back in the mid 70's.
He has a bright future ahead of him. Vogelbaugh is headed to Pittsburg State to play baseball in the fall.
