KANSAS CITY, Mo. - This week's Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week goes to a quarterback who came up big when his team needed it the most.
North Kansas City's Bryce Graskemper threw two touchdowns and ran for two against William Chrisman last Friday night.
The Hornets squeaked out a 36-34 win.
In the thriller, Graskemper threw for 105 yards and ran for another 78.
"It doesn't happen without the big boys up front. It doesn't happen without the speedsters outside," Graskemper said. "It's a big team award and it's just nice that I got my name on it."
"He's definitely a competitor. He competes week in and week out. He's very resilient. There were some tough moments in that game and he was able to bounce back," North Kansas City Coach Leon Douglas said.
North Kansas City played Fort Osage Wednesday night in the second round of the Missouri state playoffs, but ultimately lost with the final score 7-49.
