It was billed as the top prep game of the night. And, it lived up to its billing - at least in the first half.

Kansas Class 6A No. 2 Blue Valley stunned Kansas Class 5A No. 1 Mill Valley on the road, 45-28. Early on, it looked as if Mill Valley (3-1) would pull away as they took a 14-3 lead in the 2nd Quarter. But, the Tigers (4-0) regained their composure and scored several touchdowns.

By halftime, Blue Valley was only down 24-21.

"Yeah, we really stressed being in the moment. You can't control what's in your past or the future," Blue Valley Head Coach Eric Driskell said. "I think these guys really buy into that. They are going to do what they can control. And, we're just proud of them because it wasn't anything that we said as coaches. They just said, 'Hey, one play at a time. Let's get back in this thing.' And, that's what they did. No panic."

The Tigers outscored Mill Valley 24-7 in the second half. Blue Valley quarterback Matthew Dercher had 340 yards and four touchdown passes in the game.

Running back William Evans had 67 rushing yards. He also tallied up 63 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
