LONDON - Blue Valley West graduate Shannon Vreeland will not walk in Friday night's Opening Ceremony at the London Olympics.
Vreeland tells 41 Action News she has been dealing with upper respiratory congestion since training in France and thought it best to sit out the ceremony.
"So we just kinda decided that overall kinda being out that late and walking around for two and a half hours probably wasn't the best idea since I'm just kinda starting to get over that," Vreeland said Friday in a Skype interview with 41 Action News, which you can watch in its entirety above.
"Unfortunately not walking in opening ceremonies," Vreeland tweeted Friday morning. "Finally feeling better and I dont want to mess it just before I swim. Will watch on TV! #USA"
