The Royals' annual Salute to the Negro Leagues, which encourages fans to rock their retro Sunday best at Kauffman Stadium, has become one of the team's' most popular events.

As fans in circle skirts and sport jackets filled the stands, the Royals played in their Kansas City Monarchs uniforms and the Braves donned the garb of the 1938 Atlanta Black Crackers.

The uniforms will be auctioned off in a effort to help preserve the rich history of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum on 18th and Vine.

We were there, too! Fans who wanted to beat the heat and stay glamorous doing it picked up 41 Action News fedoras, and they all looked pretty dapper, if we do say ourselves.
