Scott Hillman resigns as coach of Missouri Mavericks

The only coach in the history of the Missouri Mavericks franchise resigned Wednesday.

Scott Hillman, who also served as the team's director of player operations since 2009, thanked the team as well as its fans for their support throughout his tenure. He helped lead the team to the Central Hockey League playoffs in each of its five seasons.

“It is time now for the Mavericks to look forward to the next five seasons, and fill the position with someone who shares this community’s passion for our team, and is ready to carry on the legacy and standard of excellence which the Mavs have built thus far," said team president and GM Brent Thiessen in a news release.
