Kansas City golf legend Tom Watson continues to defy his age.
The 63-year-old Watson shot a 4-under-68 on Friday to make the cut at the Australian Open by one stroke at The Lakes in Sydney, Australia. Watson improved his score by 10 shots from his first-round 78 on Thursday when he was still recovering from the flu.
He birdied four of his final six holes to make the cut in windy conditions. Watson still has never missed the cut in an Australasian PGA Tour event.
The Kansas City golf legend trails leader Marcus Fraser by eight shots entering the final two rounds this weekend. Watson is playing in the Australian Open for the first time in more than a decade. He won the Australian Open at Royal Melbourne in 1984.
