Black history is American history, according to the American Jazz Museum, and so it says every month is Black History Month.

But in February the museum really ramps up its programming.

That's why organizers are bringing in Michael D'Antonio the author of A Consequential President to speak at the museum.

D'Antonio has previously written about President Donald Trump before he became commander-in-chief and in his latest book he writes about President Barack Obama and the legacy he'll leave behind.

"After the end of the presidency of Barack Obama we really felt that this Black History Month just after he left the presidency that we really needed to reflect on what he had done as the first black president," said Cheptoo Kositany-Buckner. "Looking at his successes, some of his challenges and also some things we don't know that he did."

The luncheon starts Friday, Feb. 23 at 11:30 a.m. at the American Jazz Museum. It cost $50 to attend and the museum tells us you can buy tickets day of.
