With the crime tape down and police presence gone after Saturday night's shooting, it was business as usual on the Plaza Monday afternoon.

  • Cliff Barrow, Kansas City, Mo. - "I was appalled. it's unfortunate that these things happen around here."
  • Maxwell Frederickson, Kansas City, Mo. - "We live here in the city, and part of living in the inner city is that there is crime. So it's not something we are concerned about."
  • Mikhayla, Springfield transplant who lives in Kansas City, Mo. - "We knew what we were getting into when we came to Kansas City. it's just kind of a more cautious approach to being here."

But several of the Plaza shoppers and diners we spoke to did stress some concern about going to the shopping center at night, especially on the weekends.

  • Alexis, Wichita transplant who lives in Kansas City, Mo. - "I feel like if I were to go at night I would want to be with more people than just us."

Which is why some of the people say the city should consider implementing the 9 p.m. curfew it has during the summer, year-round.

Something else these Plaza goers want to see -- more police and security presence once the sun goes down to deter crime.
