OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - PREVIOUS (UPDATE BELOW) - All eastbound and westbound lanes of I-435 from I-35 to US-69 were closed to traffic, along with numerous ramp closures, for the demolition of two of the three Quivira road over I-435 interchange bridges in Overland Park on Saturday.
The closure is scheduled to last until 2 p.m. Sunday.
The existing bridges collapsed onto a bed of dirt so as to cushion the fall onto the existing I-435 roadway. Crews spent the remainder of the overnight closure removing the imploded bridge debris.
Construction for the new bridges will take place during the 2012 construction season.
Here is a detailed list from KDOT:
At 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, the following closure will occur:
- Left lane eastbound I-435 from K-10 to I-35 (to stage equipment)
