JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. - Johnson County's government launched a special website to help people deal with the heat.
The County government intends to use the site, http://jocogov.org/advisory/heat , to inform residents about burn bans, water usage, air quality, and other heat and drought-related issues.
The site also warns residents about the potential increase in violent acts during the hot summer months.
The extreme temperatures and humidity push people over the edge into what is defined as heat aggravation. The site suggests keeping a cool head despite the stress induced temperatures.
A complete listing of cooling centers is also included on the site.
