The arctic blast has caused hundreds of people’s car batteries to die, making it a very busy day for AAA drivers.
On an extremely cold day like this, crews could get hundreds of calls about dead batteries.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - AAA drivers are preparing for a busy Thursday, when service calls are expected to double as the Arctic blast moves through the area.
Tom Mayes has been a driver for five years. He said normally his fleet will get about 200 calls a day, but during extremely cold days that number can jump to 500.
Starting at 5 a.m., there will be two drivers circulating the area, and by 7 a.m., AAA will have 11 trucks responding to calls.
Mayes asks motorists who are passing a service vehicle to move over a lane, so he and other drivers can work safely.
