The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for Kansas City and the surrounding area on Wednesday.
The watch was supposed to be in effect until 10 p.m., but it was lifted around 6:30 p.m.
41 Action News Meteorologist Gary Lezak says the highest chance of severe storms is between 8 and 10 p.m.
The storm will come from the southwest into the area and leave on Thursday. With a stalled front from southern Kansas to Mid-Missouri, it could set the area up for heavy rain and a severe weather event.
Much of the area is also until a flood warning through Friday.
