The American Red Cross opened one shelter for area residents affected by power outages after the latest winter blast to hit Kansas City.
Thousands remained without electricity Tuesday evening as power crews scurried to restore service, but some outages would likely remain until Wednesday, a Kansas City Power & Light spokeswoman told 41 Action News.
Westar Energy in Kansas, and the Board of Public Utilities in Kansas City, Kan., were also dealing with outages from the storm.
