KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It's Memorial Day weekend and if you're sticking around Kansas City, there's plenty to do in town. Here are five fun things to do this weekend.
1. Jiggle Jam Family Fest
It's the Midwest's largest family music event. Music and activities start at 9 a.m. Saturday and run until 7 p.m. Saturday. Hours Sunday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The music fest is in the Crown Center area and tickets start at $10.
2. Bank of America Celebration at the Station
Also at the Crown Center on Sunday, you can find the Bank of America Celebration at the Station. The Kansas City Symphony will perform patriotic favorites at Union Station. The night ends with a fireworks show. It's free and open to the public, and the event and displays open at 3 p.m. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and fireworks around 9:50 p.m.
3. Opening Day at Oceans of Fun
The summer season is here and Oceans of Fun has new attractions for all visitors. Season ticket holders can get a discount for friends on Saturday, Sunday or Monday.
The teams play Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the K. It's the 40th anniversary of Kauffman Stadium, so head to the stadium to help the team celebrate. Tickets range from $10 to $51. Friday's game starts at 7:10 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday's games both start at 1:10 p.m. And if you're up for a Memorial Day game, the I-70 series begins with a 1:10 p.m. game against the Cardinals.
5. Liberty Memorial Ceremony
The National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial will host Memorial Day observances at 10 a.m. Monday. Several area representatives and senators will speak at the ceremony. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
