SHAWNEE, Kan. - Shawnee Jazzercise put me in the mood to sing—"I Feel Like Dancing!" My newest web workout friend, Miriam Garvey, invited me to her jazzy workout at 5311 Johnson Drive.
It's a great workout because you almost don't realize you're exercising. During the first 30-minutes you're learning dance routines while you listen to some hip, Top 40 music.
I admit, I was not keeping up with the beat and sometimes I was two steps behind, but I kept trying and kept working those muscles and by the end of the cardio segment I was sweating and smiling.
Jennifer Paschal was our instructor and she was a great motivator and pushed us to give our best and still have fun. Click play on her video and she'll tell you the benefits of Jazzercise.
The killer part of this workout was the floor exercises. That's when we focused on our abs, hips, buns and thighs.
At one point during a combination sit-up and leg-lift move, then I had to stop to give my muscles a break. After about 20 seconds I started again and managed to finish.
For those of you who don't know, I'm doing these web workouts to encourage people to exercise. After my battle with breast cancer, I realized that good health is a gift and we need to take care of it. I believe it's easier to exercise and stay healthy if we work on it together.
That's why I'm inviting people to like me on my Facebook fan page and invite me to their workout. I'm showing how many different, fun, interesting and exciting ways there are to get your body moving and start being active and healthy.
The web workouts are definitely helping me. I'm focused on being active and that makes me want to eat healthier. I'm still struggling; but slowly I am getting fit and it feels so good.
If you have an interesting, fun and exciting workout I would love to come. Also, please let me know if this is working. Am I inspiring you to exercise and get healthy? I'd love to hear your story.
