CHICAGO (AP) - The culinary world is mourning the death of famed Chicago chef Charlie Trotter.
The 54-year-old Trotter died Tuesday in Chicago. An autopsy is planned Wednesday.
A group of friends, former employees and chefs from around the city gathered Tuesday evening outside Trotter's former restaurant for a candlelight vigil.
Trotter's wife, Rochelle Trotter, expressed the family's shock at his death in a statement. She offered thanks for the many tributes that came, some from famous chefs such as Anthony Bourdain and Emeril Lagasse.
Trotter's name was synonymous with cutting-edge cuisine for decades.
