According to prosecutors, Williams and Ruff entered the home to conduct a robbery. Ruff carried a semiautomatic handgun and shot the victims, according to prosecutors. Williams wore a red mask and carried a machete.

According to court documents filed Wednesday in support of the charges against the two, they had lined seven people inside the home up on a couch and robbed them, getting about $400 and some cell phones.

Williams told authorities he thought they were about to leave when Ruff  began shooting.

Three of the people on the couch were not injured. An eighth person who was in the house at the time remained in a back bedroom and did not witness any of the events, according to the charging documents.
