Independence PD dashcam video shows Jan. 13 pursuit with car involved in deadly crash

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Dashcam video released to 41 Action News Tuesday by the Independence Police Department shows Monday's pursuit with a car that was later involved in a deadly crash, killing one man. The video you will see has been unedited except for length.

0:00 - The chase is in progress. Our video begins about 50 seconds into the beginning of the video provided to 41 Action News. Sirens can be heard.

0:12 - The car being chased comes into frame. The car begins to weave through traffic and is going faster than the other vehicles on the road.

1:36 - The officer begins to slow down and turns off sirens.

1:42 - The officer advises that he is terminating the pursuit. "Silver, 4-door, one white male occupant."

1:48 - The officer stops for a red light at an intersection.

2:04 - The officer starts driving once the light turns green.

2:12 - Dispatcher notes "terminated pursuit."

2:23 - Officer pulls up to crash at intersection of 23rd and Hardesty. Calls for emergency response to the crash.

2:32 - Officer begins circling neighborhood and tells dispatch the suspect is on foot.

3:07 - Officer: "Well, I didn't see him. Just saw people pointing."

3:27 - Officer: "He's back here behind houses somewhere."

3:36 - Officer gets out of car.

3:56 - Officer asks witnesses for a description of the driver. "There's a white guy in a white T-shirt."

5:30 - KCFD truck arrives on scene.

5:56 - KCFD ambulance arrives on scene.
