Paperless tickets will soon be issued by KC police

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - It may not be a chief complaint, but Kansas City Police Chief James Corwin says paperless tickets will be coming soon to the city’s law breakers.

Corwin said in a Monday blog post that he hopes officers will be issuing electronic tickets from hand-held devices by September of this year.

Officers will use computers with small printers in their cars – motorcycle and other mobile officers can use a hand-held version – to enter in information about the offender. The machines would then print off a receipt ticket for the violator.

Corwin says the machines should increase the department’s efficiency and as a result, focus more on serious crime problems.
