Mackenzie R. Levens was charged on Sept. 9, 2011, with abandonment of a corpse.
LEE"S SUMMIT, Missouri - Mackenzie Levens and his friend decided they needed to get rid of their dead friend's body.
He was dead on the side of a Lee's Summit house and they weren't sure what to do.
They loaded Brandon Dean's body into the back of a truck in late June and drove him to the James A. Reed Wildlife Area.
The two dumped Wright in a clearing in the woods, covered him with leaves and branches and drove off, court documents reveal.
Levens told a police officer he said a prayer for Wright.
The officer asked Levens why he didn't call police or tell an adult.
Court documents state Levens and his friend, a juvenile, wouldn't tell anyone and "just try to be normal.''
Levens told police Wright took methadone pills while a group of people were out together.
They placed him outside the house to allow him to sleep off the effects of the pills.
He was found dead the next day.
Editor's note: A previous version of this story listed the deceased as Brandon Wright. The correct name is Brandon Dean.
