State: More marijuana-growing operations busted in Johnson County than any other Kansas county

JoCo also home to state's largest single bust

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kansas - The State of Kansas released the number of marijuana growing operation busts in 2010, and a majority of the plants seized were in Johnson County.

In total, the state confiscated 1,093 plants in 27 raids in 12 counties last year.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office was responsible for all the busts in that county. Deputies seized 630 plants, or 57 percent of the state total, in 10 separate busts.

Of those plants found in Johnson County, 378 were found in one drug bust made on Aug. 27, 2010.

The county with the second highest number of plants seized was Douglas County with 163 plants.

The other 10 counties with drug busts in 2010 include Cherokee, Cowley, Crawford, Linn, Montgomery, Miami, Marion, Neosho, Rice and Seward.
