SHAWNEE, Kan. -- A bowling bash to help fallen and injured officers. Last year, the Kansas City Police officers foundation helped raise money for one officer's family.
This year three Clinton Police officers were honored.
Police officers on both sides of the state line tied up bowling shoes and hit the lanes for the 98.1 Dana and Parks 2018 Bowling Bash. The radio station partnered with the Kansas City Police Officer's Memorial Foundation to help fallen and injured officers.
"We raise a lot of money for the officers in the area, to be able to help them. But every year we pick someone that we need to help," said Lemon.
This year officer Tom Wagstaff was among the bowlers.
Last year, the money raised was gifted to his family. The Independence police officer was shot in the head in March of 2017 while responding to a home burglary.
"It's a real honor to be here, to support such a great organization and I really appreciate the support that they gave me," said Wagstaff.
This year the Clinton police officers targeted in a March 6th ambush were honored.
Officers Nicholas Kasper and Nathan Bettencourt survived the March 6th 911 call that cost officer Ryan Morton his life. All three we're honored at the Bowling Bash with financial support.
Tara Morton accepted the check for her son, Christopher Ryan Morton.
"Despite the tragic events that occurred, we've got a lot of love. The check presentation was wonderful. Like I said, the local support is absolutely phenomenal. And being able to give back is what Ryan would like," said Morton.
