Family, friends ride to remember Jamie Frecks, victim of party bus accident

SHAWNEE, Kan. - Friends and family members of Jamie Frecks are working to make sure her memory stays alive.

Frecks died on may 4th celebrating her soon to be sister in laws bachelorette party. She was with the group on a party bus when the emergency door unexpectedly came open and Frecks was thrown onto the interstate.

Dozens of people met at the Sharks Restaurant and Billiards to remember the new mother following the Jamie Frecks Memorial Ride, which raised money her memorial fund. Friends, family members, and even strangers raised money for the ride.

The ride started around noon Saturday, with bikers who participated in the 36 mile trip  traveling to several participating restaurants. The ride started and ended at Sharks.

Frecks' daughter was just five weeks old at the time of her mother's death. Organizers want to raise money today to pay for the funeral costs and help raise the child, while taking the time to remember the young mother.

"She liked to have fun of course," Rebecca Bruns, Frecks' sister-in-law, said, "She loved Emma for as long as she got to and she loved to help people. That was the main thing and that's why we're doing what we're doing."

Friends and family are also starting a Jamie Frecks Scholarship Fund, saying Frecks wanted to help kids. They hope to make the ride an annual event.
