Two Biggest Loser contestants are overcome by heat

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Hundreds of people from miles around stood in line on Saturday hoping to be on NBC's hit television show, "The Biggest Loser."  Two people were overcome by temperatures that topped 100 degrees.

Katie Bauler and her best friend drove three hours from Springfield, Mo., to Nebraska Furniture Mart for a chance to be on season 14 of the show. They packed sunscreen, water and food, planning to stand in the heat for hours.

"This is a chance to get my life back, and lose the weight," Butler said. "It's worth it."

The decision to endure 100-plus degree temperatures that proved to be too much for at least a couple of contestants.

Two people got sick and passed out due to the heat.

According to organizers, those people were treated by medical personnel. But their heat-related illnesses prompted organizers to move the entire line inside the store because of the heat.

The Biggest Loser is holding 13 casting calls all over the nation. Eighteen people will be chosen to participate in the upcoming season, which starts airing in January.
