KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Dan Meers, the man behind the KC Wolf mascot, is still recovering from back surgery after injuries he suffered while rehearsing a skit for Sunday's game.
A friend of Meers, Rod Handley tweeted an update on his condition: "Thanks for prayers for Dan Meers (KC Wolf). Successful back surgery today & recovering well. 25 family & friends were at hospital praying."
Before becoming KC Wolf 24 years ago, Meers was Truman the Tiger at Mizzou and Fredbird with the Cardinals. In 2011, Meers spoke to 41 Action News about the pregame skits like the one he was injured in while practicing.
"If it looks like it hurts, it usually does. Mascots use a lot of ibuprofen but we have a lot of fun while we are beating ourselves up," Meers said back in 2011.
