KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Actor and Overland Park native Paul Rudd was among those to arrive early at the Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade on Wednesday to celebrate the Chiefs' Super Bowl win.
A lifelong Chiefs fan, Rudd — who said he was feeling under the weather and hadn't recovered his voice "since the first quarter" of the Super Bowl — told 41 Action News that he was "just so excited" to be in Kansas City for the festivities.
"The whole day is one long giant party," Rudd said.
"This is a celebration of support and love for this team, generations," he said, "and for the first time in 50 years, this town is gonna party like it's 1969."
Rudd said that while he's excited now, watching the game on Sunday, which the Chiefs won with a come-from-behind rally in the fourth quarter, was "just pure nausea."
"I didn't enjoy the experience at all," he said with a laugh. "It was the worst experience with the greatest outcome."
After the win, Rudd teamed up with local T-shirt company Charlie Hustle to launch a charity tee with the phrase, "Kegger at my mom's house," which he jokingly said after the Kansas City Royals won the World Series.
Proceeds from the shirt will go toward Big Slick KC, hosted by Rudd and other hometown celebrities, that benefits Children's Mercy.
