KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Sprint has entered a purchase agreement for the sale of its Overland Park campus, the company announced Friday.

Occidental Management, based in Wichita, will take over ownership in the “coming months,” according to a letter CEO Michel Combes sent to employees.

Last fall, Sprint entered into negotiations to sell the campus and lease the buildings that it needed. Combes said in his letter that the sale “will allow us to invest in creating an atmosphere that fits our changing culture.”

In January, the company announced that if the proposed merger between Sprint and T-Mobile is approved, the new T-Mobile would build five customer experience centers, including one at the Overland Park campus.

“Sprint’s headquarters remains firmly planted in Overland Park, whether we own the buildings or not,” Combes said in the letter. “And, if the merger is approved, the new T-Mobile is demonstrating its commitment to make the Sprint campus a second headquarters.”

Occidental Management also owns the Overland Park Xchange campus at 6800 W. 115th Street, according to its website.
