KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One Kansas City, Missouri, hair stylist is using her time away from Delphinium Salon to offer free hair braiding lessons.

Lexi Carley has been out of work since mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic and wanted to give students from Whitefield Academy a “creative outlet.”

“While I was home I had been doing a lot of mannequin work trying new things,” Carley said, “and my mom and I had the idea to do a class for the girls at Whitefield to give them at least a half an hour of girl time that was just for fun and not school work, to teach them on their dolls new styles and eventually be able to do it on their hair as well.”

Whitefield Academy is among the area schools that canceled in-person learning to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
