World Harvest Ministries breaks ground on new learning center, community garden

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - New opportunities will soon be popping up in Kansas City's urban core now that the Global Orphan Project and World Harvest Ministries are pairing up.

Together they broke ground on the new learning center and community garden. They held a special ceremony on Sunday marking the event.

They also plan to put in a new grocery store and sell the produce they grow in the garden.

The hope is to provide fresh fruits and vegetables they may not have access to.

"The problem is this is considered a healthy food desert," said Pastor Terry Glenn with World Harvest Ministries. "It's very hard to find healthy, local food. "

The project will also help provide job opportunities in the area.

The church hopes to have the project done sometime next year.
