Missouri Gov Nixon vetoes various measures

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Governor Jay Nixon has vetoed several measures approved this year by Missouri lawmakers.

Among several vetoes Nixon announced Wednesday was a bill that sought to restrict lawsuits arising out of traffic accidents that are filed by uninsured motorists against those with insurance. Nixon says the measure is ambiguous and lacks a definition of "uninsured."

The Democratic governor also vetoed a measure that attempted to shield from most lawsuits a health care provider who is volunteering to provide the services. He said it's bad policy to deny access to the legal system if someone receives poor medical care.
