Anime fans convene in Overland Park

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - For the first year, the Naka-kon Anime Convention is being held at the Overland Park Convention Center.  More than 5,000 anime, or Japanese cartoon, fans filled the center hoping to see all things anime.

Renne Elliott makes the conference every year.

"The Naka-kon convention for us is like the Super Bowl for a star football team; they work for it all year, we make our costumes all year," Elliott said.

Like Elliott, most of the attendees view the conference as a chance to be comfortable in their own skin.

"We're not crazy, we're not imature, we're normal people, we have jobs, we go to school, this is just something we really love to do," Elliott said.
