Man found stabbed to death in Ottawa neighborhood

OTTAWA, Kansas - Police in Ottawa say they have arrested two men in connection to the city’s first homicide of 2010.

Police responded around 9 p.m. Wednesday to a home the 200 block of South Locust Street.

After arriving, officers found a stabbing victim who had collapsed in a neighbor’s yard.

Authorities tried to revive the victim, who police believe was stabbed inside the nearby home, on the scene but were unsuccessful.
Police identified him as 24-year-old Paul Duane Nicholson.

Arrested were 44-year-old John David Balbirnie and 23-year-old Brandon Lee Ellsmore, both of Ottawa.

Both were being held in the Franklin County Jail awaiting formal charges.
