Bodies of two found in burning home investigated as homicide

PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. - Police are investigating the deaths of two people found inside a burning home in Pettis County, Mo., on Tuesday as homicide.

Pettis County deputies found 56-year-old Barbara A. Hudson and her 26-year-old son, Jeremiah A. Hudson dead inside their rural Green Ridge home.

There was visible fire damage to the back side of the home and the side door had keep out sign from the Missouri state fire marshal.

Autopsies were performed by the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office in Columbia during the day on Tuesday, and investigators are treating both deaths as homicides.

Dozens of the Hudson's farm animals walked freely throughout the property and tonight are left with no owner.

What's even more troubling is a family is left without two loved ones.

41 Action News spoke to the daughter and sister of the victims. She had a hard time holding back the tears while speaking over the phone.

She's hoping someone comes forward with information.

First thing Wednesday morning, detectives from a variety of west central Missouri police agencies will gather to try and figure out what lead up to this violent crime and who is responsible.
