A convicted child killer and his attorney allegedly used an illegal cellphone to exchange text messages.

Jackson County prosecutors charged Ce-Antonyo Kennedy, 19, with a felony charge of possessing a phone charger, a cord that could be used in a strangulation, and two misdemeanor counts of delivering or concealing prohibited articles on jail premises, court documents state.

Kennedy was already in the Jackson County Jail after his conviction in the murder of 14-year-old Alexis Kane in 2015 at the Bay Water Park in Kansas City.

He was sentenced to 15 years on the murder conviction and 10 years for armed criminal action.

One of his attorneys, Julianne Colby, 39, made nearly three dozen visits to the Jackson County Jail between January and April 2017, according to court documents.

She also allegedly sent text messages to a cellphone Kennedy had in his jail cell. Some of those messages were sexual in nature.

Colby is charged with delivering or concealing prohibited articles on jail premises. The charge is a misdemeanor.

Colby will be in Jackson County Court for her arraignment on August 17.
