VIDEO: Ford reveals a new F-150 at Detroit Auto Show; Lighter truck uses aluminum in body

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Ford is proud of pointing out that the F-150 is America's most popular vehicle. Today, the Dearborn-based automaker introduced a new version of the truck at the auto show.

The new trucks will surely be lighter. They make use of an aluminum alloy in the construction of the truck's body. Ford says this will help save about 7,000 pounds of weight.

Addressing concerns that it might not be as sturdy as past trucks, a release from Ford noted that the truck's frame is made of, "more high-strength steel than ever."

The F-150 has been the nation's best-selling truck for 37 years and America's overall best-selling vehicle for 32 years.
