Mackenzie Saulnier rolls her way to HyVee Athlete of the Week honors

OLATHE, Kan. - Mackenzie Saulnier got on a roll at just the right time. The Olathe Northwest sophomore shattered several school records on her way to a Class 6A state championship.

"Just winning state, bowling a 707... that felt so good," she said.

Saulnier rolled a 707 series to capture the state title by 44 pins. That performance did not come close to matching her day in the regionals -- Saulnier took the regional crown by bowling an 804 series.

She has written her name all over the school record book this season. Olathe Northwest coach Kevin Hulsen cannot wait to see what the next two years have in store.

"(I'm) incredibly impressed with her," Hulsen said. "She's a sophomore young lady that's got the world ahead of her as far as bowling is concerned. She's a cut above the rest."
