Good morning bloggers,

A big warm up is in the forecast. But first, we have some fog to clear out. There was some freezing fog earlier this morning. This is fog that forms when it is below freezing, and there is a chance that some moisture will freeze on elevated surfaces. There are a lot of slick spots anyway, so provide a lot of extra time for travel today. The fog will lift soon, and some sunshine is expected later in the day.

The weather pattern is becoming favorable for a big warm up and this warming trend will begin this afternoon and really pick up with the warmer air arriving this weekend. Temperatures will easily warm up into the 50s this weekend, and the weather looks great for Sunday Night Football in Chicago.

This map shows a ridge aloft. What does this mean? This is the opposite of a storm, and this provides the conditions for the warmer air to move in. There is an even bigger ridge forecast for the beginning of Christmas week, and I will show the forecast for the holiday week on 41 Action News tonight.
