MISSION, Kan. — There’s a football game on 41 Action News Sunday, February 4.
Surrounding that game is, for some, the main event: The food-ball game!
According to one survey, many Americans will consume 2,400 calories of high-salt, high-sugar, high-fat but oh, so good, snacks just during the game.
That’s the number of calories one should take in over the course of an entire day.
So, what do you do if you want to have some delicious but nutritious fun at your Super Bowl party?
Louann Floyd, HyVee Registered Dietitian, to the rescue!
According to Floyd, it all has to do with good coaching techniques.
For example, make the right substitutions. Find no-added-salt chips and beans.
Nibble on carrots and celery.
Drink lots of water.
Build your loaded nachos with loads of healthy food, like ground turkey or chicken.
If you follow Floyd’s advice, you can walk away from the game feeling good and good about yourself, regardless of the final score.
