LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- The shooting at a Florida high school spurred a discussion of whether or not teachers should be armed.

The National Education Association has come out as strongly opposing the idea.

Frontier Justice is offering a deeply discounted Conceal and Carry Course for teachers, employees, and administrators at any educational facility anywhere.  75 percent off, a course regularly at the cost of $99 will be reduced to $25 for each person who enrolls during the designated class times.

The first class honoring the discount was held on Saturday. About half of the students in the 8-hour class were educators from around the area.

Instructor Sue Lang says the discount is being offered to simply provide the opportunity for people who work in schools to learn more about gun safety if they are interested or simply want to have a better understanding.

"The first question you have to ask is ‘is this person's makeup such that they could participate in that?'” said Lang. "One of the things that Frontier Justice was trying to do was say come take the class and see what it's about and find out if this is for you before you go any further."

Classes will be offered on March 24 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Lee's Summit, MO and March 17 and March 31 in Kansas City, KS.
